Born from a need for comfortable knee pads to use while building a school garden, the Elliam has evolved into a multi-use apron that can be used for many tasks:
- Gardening
- Painting & decorating
- DIY
- Building
- Cleaning
- Flatpack furniture assembly
- Changing car tyres
... the list goes on
Comfort & Fit
When the user does not want, or have the time to change into work or gardening clothes, the Elliam takes seconds to put on over the user' clothing.
The waist strap and leg straps, as well as the adjustable Knee Pads, provides the user with a comfortable fit, and as the side pockets are 'floating', they move out of the way when kneeling down, so items will not fall out of the pockets.
Putting on the Apron
1. Secure the apron around your waist using the waist straps.
2. Attach the leg straps around the top of your calf to secure the knee pads in place.
Adjusting the Knee Pads.
The Knee Pads are held in place with Velcro*.
There is Velcro on boths sides of the Knee Pads and the Leg Covers, which ensures the Knee Pads are held in place securely while being able to be adjusted to suit individual users, and easily removed if needed.
Cost, Design & Manufacturing.
Why the cost? While the Elliam was designed and prototyped in Ireland, the usefulness of the design requires a lot of manual sewing. For this we used a small manufacturer in Estonia, paying their staff a living wage.
We also use top quality materials, each apron is inspected for quality control before it leaves factory and should last for years.
Foam Knee Pads
Like traditional work trousers, the Elliam has knee pockets for replacable foam knee pads. We recommend using PortWest S156 foam knee pad inserts as we found them be to the best type we tested.
The foam knee pad inserts are sold seperately.
Patents
Patent granted in Ireland & patent pending in the US.
As our workwear is unique, we have applied for two Patents for the Elliam workwear, to provide us with protection for our design.
